Idaho’s primary appeal stems from natural landscapes: mountains, forests, rivers, diverse terrain suitable for outdoor-focused content, adventure narratives, and westerns. Local crew infrastructure is developing but remains less established than major hubs. Equipment rental is available in Boise but specialized equipment may require out-of-state sourcing. Idaho’s tax incentive program is less robust than neighboring states with higher rates. However, for productions where Idaho locations are creatively important—westerns, outdoor adventures, nature documentaries—the combination of natural location value and modest incentive can work. Idaho represents a location choice first, incentive support second.
