MovieInsure is a licensed film production insurance broker. Our Film School program is an annual policy for film schools and university film programs, from $2,500 a year.

Our Film School program covers the student productions your school approves, all year, under one policy.

What Is Film School Insurance?

Film students shoot on real locations, with real equipment, around the public. A damaged camera package, a slip on a location, or a fender-bender in a rented van can cost thousands. Locations, rental houses and cities also ask for a certificate of insurance before the cameras roll.

Instead of buying a separate policy for every student shoot, the school buys one annual policy. It works much like our DICE/Annual production package, set up for a school’s production calendar.

Who Is Covered

The school is the named insured. The policy covers productions the school sanctions as part of its program. It’s flexible enough for a small program with just a few students or a large film school with hundreds.

We can insure film schools anywhere in the United States, and over 50 types of production are eligible, from short films and documentaries to music videos, commercials and thesis films.

What the Film School Policy Covers

• Production equipment (Inland Marine): owned, rented and borrowed equipment, such as cameras, lenses, lighting and sound gear, plus props, sets, wardrobe, and negative & faulty stock.
• General Liability: third-party bodily injury and property damage claims, with waiver of subrogation, which locations and permit offices often require.
• Hired & Non-Owned Auto: liability and physical damage for vehicles rented or borrowed for a production.

Certificates of Insurance

The school can issue certificates of insurance for its student projects itself, for locations, rental houses and permit offices, without waiting on a new policy for each shoot.

Extras You Can Add

Coverage can be added for productions that need more, subject to underwriting:

• Stunts, animals and precision driving
• Drones
• Excess liability for higher limits

What Is Not Included

• Workers’ compensation is not available on this program.

A Student Shooting Outside of School?

The Film School policy covers school-sanctioned productions. A student making a personal project on their own can get a Short Term Production policy instead.
