WASHINGTON

As-Of: June 2026 | Tax Credit: 23% transferable (NO per-project cap)

Washington offers 23% transferable tax credit on qualified in-state production expenses for all production types. Credits are transferable, and the state offers NO per-project cap, enabling large productions to access full incentive value. Washington requires pre-certification and maintains annual funding allocations. Washington’s locations include Seattle’s urban character and iconic architecture, Pacific Northwest landscapes including mountains and coastline, natural scenery valuable for outdoor-focused content, and distinctive regional character. Production costs are moderate compared to California but higher than inland alternatives. Seattle has established film infrastructure with crews, equipment rental companies, post-production facilities, and emerging soundstage options. The combination of 23% transferable credits with no per-project cap makes Washington practical for major productions. The lack of per-project cap provides certainty for larger productions. For West Coast productions with Pacific Northwest character, Washington offers reasonable incentive value combined with location appeal. Washington’s infrastructure continues developing to support increasing production activity.
