What Is Event Cancelation Insurance?

No matter how well events are planned and organized, there are many things that can go wrong which can cause the event to be cancelled.

Event cancellation insurance provides protection for organizations, event planners, production companies and others that host conventions, plays, concerts, trade and consumer shows.  Coverage is available for indoor and outdoor events held nearly anywhere in the world. If your event is cancelled, you still may have legal and financial obligations. If you are holding a concert, comedy show or other entertainment event, call John Hart today.

Event cancellation Insurance can cover expenses or lost revenue that you might stand to lose if the event you are managing or promoting is cancelled or postponed due to unforeseeable reasons beyond your control.

Insurance coverage can include protection from adverse weather, heavy rain, fire, collapse or destruction of the event site, damage to surrounding venues or infrastructure, disease outbreak resulting in lack of access, power failures, and strikes. Other coverage can include non-appearance of a key speaker or entertainer, failure to vacate the event facility, and physical loss of personal property and door registration receipts.

You have a lot invested in your event, and event insurance is a good way to protect that investment. No matter how much time, energy and money you invest in your events, there may be factors beyond your control that can cause costly cancellations or interruptions.

Are You Selecting A Broker For Your Entertainment Business?

We are an independent agency. This means we don’t work for any one specific insurance company. We have access to many markets, giving us the ability to shop your account and search the market for the best option for you. With captive insurance agents, like the big national companies, you only get the guidance of one company that sells one brand of insurance. With an independent insurance agent, you may get as many as five choices or more.

If you are looking for a new broker we suggest asking these questions as part of your review process:

  1. Which insurance company do you recommend?

Answer- We work with a number of companies and only recommend the ones that provide the best possible combination of coverage, price and service.

  1. Do you have experience in my industry?

Answer- We have experience in the entertainment industry and specialize in commercial insurance, workers’ compensation and employee benefits. If fact, we only work in th entertainment industry.

  1. What other services do you offer besides insurance placement?

Answer- We offer a number of other services including claims assistance, certificate reviews, and workers’ compensation. We also utilize our carrier’s safety and loss control when needed.

  1. What sets you apart?

Answer- Each company has its own circumstances which dictate what would be needed to safeguard the years of hard work in building a successful enterprise. We will guide you through different scenarios to see what effects it would have on your business and what solutions are available. Our mission is to give you the peace of mind that your company and personal assets are properly safeguarded.

  1. Give us examples of how you might improve our program.

Answer- We would complete a review of your current insurance program and compare that with your operational exposures. We would identify any gaps in coverage and make recommendations.

The Movie Business Can Be Risky

We all love watching the fine work that comes out of Hollywood and other production companies. We at Movie Insure know that with risks come rewards. Here are a few of the risks faced by the entertainment industry:

  • Stunts and action scenes. There are times when lead actors want to do their own action scenes. If the lead actor is injured it might lead to long delays in production.
  • Foreign locations. Many productions are filmed outside of the USA. This can lead to safety, cultural and legal issues. Especially if the production is travelling with a full crew and production team.
  • High valued set and wardrobes. If sets are damaged or wardrobes destroyed, they must be replaced. Even under the best of situations, a few weeks delay can cost thousands of dollars.
  • Documentaries or other true stories can lead to creating errors in the truth. While there is always some defense in artistic freedom, it really depends on what was agreed to between the parties involved. Also, rewriting scripts during production can lead to errors in factual information.
